Hasn’t Bobi Wine Fallen For the Trap?!

Getting into parliament, on an independent seat, Bobi Wine's direction might have been altered. True, in what he vowed was the 'Protection of the Constitution', but the 'How to do it' has been tricky.

Yes, one is drawn into thinking where the term ‘Trap’ is derived from. Or what inspires this writing, but a lot needs to be thought through in regards to the the evolving events and our freshest politician, who is a hopeful to most.

Lets set aside the ongoing frustrations-which of course are hard to let go. The Ugandan Parliamentary sessions have lately been a mess, a joke, a stage for mockery, comedy, referred as boxing rings by most due to the uncoordinated activities.

Its not because the sessions lacked Speakers, or mature participants, but something we all ought to think through.

Narrowing it down, the recent tensions around the Lifting of the Presidential Term are one which have revealed a lot about Uganda, and the ‘Trusted’ parliamentary members who were elected their people.

One can’t deny how ashaming the images, and video clips about the parliamentary sittings are. The fracas and un thought through commotion revealed by Uganda’s ‘Once Trusted Parliamentarians’ is one that made many re-think again.

To Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, the representative of Kyaddondo East, of Wakiso District, another image is unveiled of him. That is not the official we once saw in campaigns. Mr. Kyagulanyi is one who mobilized a peaceful election, which he toppled. Peace is what he preached through his fans and constituency, hope and a change is what he vowed, which in the end worked out.

The Trap

To many, Bobi Wine’s victory shook not only his constituency, or the country, but called for all the direction directed towards him (Not all attention could turn out good for anybody).

Notice when the Presidential Term Limit issues rose up, Bobi Wine is one of the lead figures, who have taken a lead, yet facing the wrath.

Parliamentary Sessions

Watching those video clips of the Kyaddondo East Member of Parliament clenching fists, a signal of uncontrolled temper made me realize how he has shifted his focus. With Opposition being in place, then being ignited by members, him being taking a lead, it jeopardizes this MP. Isn’t opposition using Bobi Wine as a cover, Bet, a Shield to be targeted?

Bobi Wine is one I hoped would do the reverse- take his seat calmly, give his firm composed speech about his stand, while others took on roles of being ‘Stars’. Raising fists, abusing or throwing microphone stands towards your opponent doesn’t make you a hero, a so patriotic person, not even in your own home.

More so, what did the public think of the Opposition. As a few praised the scenario, many had to re-think of where they had placed their hope.

We need a much more absolute solutions to any condition. We don’t think that ‘Protection the Constitution’ means standing on tables, or fighting any member… Bobi Wine is being fronted to face the wrath of other Opposition, many other MPs are, but better should have been done.

A thought that keeps coming, “Aren’t the MPs into another Game plan-which they have no knowledge of?!”

My Observation

To one who didn’t fight, this didn’t mean they don’t love their country, or represent their people or aren’t in pain of what goes on in Uganda.

We need better examples of our dear Members of Parliament.
